A new look for the site!

I don’t think I’ve written a design from scratch for this site since 2005. I avoided it because I could never strike a perfect balance of what I wanted to see in the design. I originally wanted to have a white background and use typography as the highlight but that seemed too boring. On the other hand, I didn’t want to get all fancy and make the site a distracting art display. What I have now is something I’m fairly pleased with — it has the right balance and I have a good place to put some navigation links (under the header). I still need to make a few changes like widen the site and make the header link to the homepage though, but at least I’ve got something to work on.
